What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome ? We've all heard the word carpal tunnel syndrome and how improper positioning of the body can lead to this ease, but what is it.. Your wrist is surrounded by tendons that support it. The narrow space between the tendons and the wrist is called the carpal tunnel. With in this tunnel there are nerves that connect to all your fingers. When the wrist is in a constant state of awkward positioning and repetitive motion these nerves become stressed. Resulting in tendon inflammation, burning sensations, and eventually (atrophy) which is a degeneration of the hands and muscles. How can I diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome ? To diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome we should examine the wrist for swelling, warmth, tenderness, deformity, and coloration. Tapping the front part of the wrist can reproduce the tingling of the hand and is often called ( Tingles sign of carpal tunnel ). How can I avoid carpal tunnel syndrome ? For starters take a break! Next you should begin by examining your daily work activities. Most causes of repetitive strain injuries has to do with the work station setup.
